Incident Reporting
Ransomware Readiness
Ohio political subdivisions and school districts are required to implement formal cybersecurity programs aligned with recognized frameworks such as NIST or CIS. Many organizations must meet compliance requirements by January 1, 2026.
Cybersecurity incidents must be reported to the Ohio Cyber Integration Center (OCIC) within 7 days and to the Ohio Auditor of State within 30 days. Proper incident response planning and documentation are essential for compliance.
Ohio law places restrictions on ransomware payments and requires formal public approval before payment can be authorized. Organizations should maintain response plans, backup strategies, and recovery procedures to reduce operational risk.
